Who We Are
Our History
In 2011, the Mainstream Association took a major step by presenting an innovative project to JICA Kansai, which gave rise to the MORPHO Independent Living Center in Costa Rica, inaugurated in 2012. This center not only marked a milestone in Latin America by receiving technical support on disability issues, but also became the first place to offer personal assistance services in the region.
Located in Pérez Zeledón, the Morpho Project is developed in two phases with the aim of empowering people with disabilities and replicating this experience throughout the country. Through seminars and meetings, leaders have been strengthened and visibility has been given to the group, turning each participant into an agent of change.
One of the center's most notable achievements has been the promotion of the Law for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities, which guarantees fundamental rights and supports inclusion. Together we are building a more inclusive and empowered Costa Rica!
